Hamelin House

Hamelin House outside High ResHamelin House is an Ofsted registered short break service for children up to 18 years old. We provide overnight and day care breaks and are registered for up to 6 children or young people.

Hamelin House was the first care service provided by the Trust and opened in 1983.

We provide a service to children with disabilities including learning disabilities, sensory impairments and physical disabilities. Children who attend may have additional needs including behaviours which may challenge and/or health care requirements.  Children staying at any one time are assessed for compatibility and safety.  We are able to support children over 18 years old whilst transitioning from children to adult services. Referrals for Emergency admissions can be made and will be assessed on an individual basis.Support workers at HH in conservatory High Res

We provide a warm friendly, homely service where the children can participate in a variety of activities both in the house and in the local community.

We have a wheelchair accessible minibus which enables us to visit places of interests such as: the seaside, woodland parks, animal farms and cinema.

The house has been adapted to support children with mobility needs.  All of the bedrooms, which are upstairs, are decorated in different colour themes and have TV/DVD video units available.

Our home offers a variety of rooms for the children to explore including; a sensory room, a quiet lounge where there is a children’s touch screen computer, a large comfortable open plan lounge with a dining area, soft play area and interactive light system.  French doors lead out to a well-equipped adapted play area and The Lion’s Den, which is a wooden cabin providing further play space.Outside area High Res

Our staff team are all provided with regular training to meet the children’s needs.  Each child is allocated a key worker and has a detailed care plan, to enable us to provide person centred and consistent quality care.

We aim to contribute to a society in which children with disabilities needs’ are met, their aspirations supported and their rights respected by keeping these values as a core to the service we provide.
