Don’t Leave It Too Late!

We are being supported by THB Solicitors to bring you a will writing day!

On Thursday 31st May, Hamelin Trust and THB Solicitors are offering you the chance to write your will.  This wonderful law firm will be waiving their usual £150 fee for writing basic wills in return for a donation to Hamelin Trust!  They will write a single basic will for £90 and £150 for a couple.

Many of us put off writing a will – in fact, 51% of adults do not have this vital piece of paperwork – but it is one of the most important things you will ever have to do in your life.  Having a will means that you are prepared for when the unthinkable happens and guarantees that your wishes will be carried out.

Dying without a will (known as dying intestate) means your property and possessions will be divided according to rules of intestacy.  This means unmarried partners may get nothing, spouses may get significantly less than they were expecting, and family members may not get the share of your houses and savings that you may have intended.  It can lead to unnecessary stress for grieving relatives, disputes, delays, and possible court involvement.

Unfortunately, people do not always die when they are old and this can cause difficulties for your family if you have children under the age of 18.  If you have dependant children, writing a will is vital in making sure they are well looked after if the unthinkable happened.  Not having a will means not providing your children with a legal guardian, which could cause stress within the family and custody issues.

Making a will is the only way to ensure that your wishes are kept and look after your family in the event of your death or become incapacitated through injury or an accident.

Now is the perfect time to plan for your will!
